Solo Walk
October 20, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 6:00 pm
$125
What is a Solo Walk?
It is a day’s journey on Mother Earth, structured in the same way as all significant rites of passage: preparation (Severance), time on the land (Threshold), and return (Incorporation).
This program can serve as an excellent introduction to our work, and can be a gift to oneself–time out of your regular life to reflect, go within, and just be in nature.
The Solo Walk contains elements distilled from the 9-day Wilderness Quest journey: safety orientation, a day fast, clarification of intent, crossing a threshold, sacred time on the land, return to a feast, and storytelling with mirroring by program staff.
Schedule
The group will gather at 8:00 am on Saturday, October 20 at Hood Mt. Regional Park in Sonoma County, California. We recommend fasting (with water) during the day.
Participants should bring basic hiking gear–daypack, water bottles, sunscreen, a warm jacket, raingrear (we’ll send a list when you register), as well as a food item for the group meal after the walk.
This event will end by sundown, or around 6:00 pm.
Staff: Lily Thompson
Lily was introduced to nature Rites of Passage over a decade ago. Since then, she has trained as a facilitator, council leader, and solo walk guide. In addition to her nature work, Lily works in independent high school education, has volunteered as a Hospice Grief Support Group facilitator, and is Wilderness First Aid and CPR certified. Lily believes that the combination of time spent alone in nature and the deep listening and community aspect of guided Rites of Passage programs facilitate deeper connection with self, others, and the world. Lily is a deep listener and an intuitive guide.
