A homecoming to deepest self, this sacred journey of healing and transformation honors the power and the path of the sacred feminine as experienced in nature and in our lives.
The supportive container of the Women’s Quest provides a safe, wild and beautiful way to explore our depths authentically, heal old wounds, and renew our sense of purpose in order to live our most alive selves. Enter sacred time and space alone to reflect and redirect. Connect with the Earth and celebrate the gifts that are uniquely yours to give. Deepen into relationship with the natural world and claim your place in the order of all life.
This is a classic Wilderness Quest program in the tradition of Rites of Passage, which has offered this program for over 40 years. Journeying in nature, we allow the noise of the modern world to take a backseat and give ourselves the space to experience ourselves as we truly are. This is a beautiful opportunity to come into a deeper relationship with ourselves, the Earth, and the circle of questers who become our community. On the land and under a broad sky we honor our callings and mark significant life changes. The 9 day rite of passage includes 3 days of preparation, 3 days of solo time in the wilderness, and 3 days of integration. It is lovingly offered to women and female-identifying people in all stages and stations of life.
Schedule
The group will gather on Saturday, June 29 at 1:00 pm at a campground at the base of the Eastern Sierras along California’s scenic highway 395. We will spend one night there, then move into the high country of the Inyo Mountains on Sunday to set up our backcountry base camp. Over the next two days, we’ll get to know the land around us and prepare ourselves with the tools needed to stay safe on the solo, learning skills such as essential first aid, our buddy system, and tarp-tying.
During our preparation time, the guides will introduce eco-spiritual tools and practices, present information about conducting personal ceremony in nature, and help participants to clarify and claim their purpose before the three-day solo begins. Group members will have time during these initial days to follow their heart’s calling to find their solo site.
On the fourth morning, each quester will step over the threshold, embarking on a sacred solo journey into the wilderness for 3 days and nights. After the solo, we’ll work with each person to distill the gifts, symbols and teachings of their individual story. We will return to the campground for one last night before the group ends by noon on Sunday, July 7.
At its heart, the quest is about carving out a piece of time to enter the liminal, make a prayer for our lives, and reconnect with ourselves and what is most important to each of us as individuals. Doing this in ceremony with other people who hold their own questions is a sacred community practice that supports a mutually held field for transformation and healing.
We’ll schedule an online pre-trip meeting about a month before the quest begins, and a follow-up online meeting about a month after it ends, to support participants on their journeys.
